A Meta product has inspired Elon Musk to call for a Facebook cage fight

A heated argument between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg has escalated to the point where the SpaceX CEO has challenged the Facebook CEO to a cage fight. The argument began when Musk expressed his displeasure with Meta's P92, a social media platform that aims to compete with the likes of Twitter.

Musk was offended by a comment from an anonymous Meta executive, who mentioned the importance of having a platform that is 'sanely run.' 'Who owns Meta?' Musk responded on Twitter. 'At least it's not run by 'sane' people,' he added sarcastically, apparently expressing his concern about Earth being under Zuckerberg's control but at least being 'sane.'

The challenge

The Tesla CEO even suggested a cage match, with Zuckerberg, who has recently taken up jiu-jitsu. Zuckerberg posted an image of himself on Instagram, wearing jiu-jitsu gear and holding a PVC pipe, expressing his willingness to fight Musk and urging him to 'send [him] the location.'

'Mark, I see your challenge, and I accept,' Musk responds on Twitter, in a post that includes the location of the Las Vegas Octagon, where the UFC is based. 'For the sake of humanity, I hope Mark is not lying, and I hope he is actually ready to fight,' Musk quips, clearly intrigued by the challenge.

Musk shares a series of videos, in which he vows to use a 'great move' on Zuckerberg, who he describes as 'a very wealthy man [who] does not deserve wealth.' The video description includes detailed instructions on how to perform 'The Walrus,' in which you simply lie on top of your opponent and do nothing.

While it is highly unlikely that the fight will actually come to pass, given Musk's track record of making outlandish statements, the feud between Musk and Zuckerberg continues to boil over. It is worth noting that the tension in part derives from decades of tech controversies, but the cage fight certainly captures attention.

The clash between alpha males

Some might say that Zuckerberg would have the upper hand, due to his dedication to fitness and training in jiu-jitsu. While it's true that Zuckerberg won a tournament in California recently, it's worth considering whether that win is similar to Vladimir Putin's Judo showcases, where FSB members dress up and get thrown around by the Russian leader.

Ultimately, this latest clash between Musk and Zuckerberg is reminiscent of two alpha males, who have clashed for years, asserting their dominance over one another. Meanwhile, the companies' PR teams scramble to manage the fallout, deciding how best it can leverage the tension.

In response to requests for comment, the Meta PR team simply stated, 'the story speaks for itself.'

Inverse hears that Musk has already expressed his interest in doing the opposite of whatever we say.
