Logitech acquires Loupedeck

Logitech, one of the biggest gaming peripheral makers, has acquired Loupedeck, the company behind the Loupedeck Live S and Live desktop consoles. This acquisition highlights the ever-growing popularity of PC Gaming controllers.

The buyout, which was made for an undisclosed amount, will not impact Logitech's finances. While the company's website still lists Loupedeck as 'founded by Mikko Kesti in 2017' with a Helsinki, Finland address, Logitech's focus is on Loupedeck's streaming capabilities.

Logitech plans to expand its audience of live streamers with Loupedeck's expertise. Loupedeck CEO Mikko Kesti expresses excitement about joining Logitech and expanding the reach and possibilities of their products.

Following the acquisition, Loupedeck will continue to operate as usual. However, there will be no transfer of Loupedeck employees or their skills, as Logitech's focus is primarily on streaming capabilities.

The buyout is also expected to end the collaboration between Loupedeck and Razer, which previously worked together on the Razer Stream Controller.

While Loupedeck and Razer collaborated on the Razer Stream Controller, it remains unclear what this buyout means for the existing lineup of Stream Controllers and future collaborations. The upcoming Logitech G230 Gaming Headset, designed for gaming rather than live streaming, is unlikely to be affected.

Elgato, a subsidiary of Corsair, is another company known for similar devices. The Elgato Stream Deck is popular among streamers, but Loupedeck has an advantage in software and plugin integration.

Although a comparison between the two devices favored the Stream Deck +, Loupedeck remains a strong competitor. The competition between PC controllers is intense, and the interest from major players suggests their growing popularity.

This acquisition by Logitech is a clear indication of the rise of PC controllers. Expect more advancements and options in this area in the future.
