The rumor about more Naruto Storm games in the future sparked excitement among the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm community, but it looks like it’s all just conjecture. CyberConnect2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama shared a response to a fan comment that allegedly quoted him as saying more Ultimate Ninja Storm games are on the way if the Boruto series continues.
Unfortunately, it looks like any hopes of a more fully-fledged sequel with Ultimate Ninja Storm 5 are dashed, as Matsuyama states that CyberConnect2 cannot confirm such projects ahead of time.
“I’ve seen a tweet that says ‘CyberConnect2 president Matsuyama said that if Boruto continues, there will be more Ultimate Ninja Storm games,’” Matsuyama comments. “I can’t talk about any future development, including the ones we’re involved in, without permission from the manufacturers and Shonen Jump magazines.
“I can talk about Fuga and CyberConnect2, but I can’t answer questions regarding copyrights unless they have already been announced.”
The initial announcement of Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections earlier this year disappointed many fans who were hoping for Storm 5, especially after a string of new Naruto games were announced. Connections serves more as a bridging game, similar to Generations and Revolution, rather than a full sequel.
However, the ongoing Naruto spinoff series and recent reveals of new characters have improved the fan response to Connections, and it looks like it’ll stand on its own as the next major entry in the franchise.
A rumor, however, spread on Twitter claiming that Matsuyama confirmed more Ultimate Ninja Storm games if Boruto continues. “It’s a reply to a fan that says ‘if Boruto continues, CyberConnect2 will make more Ultimate Ninja Storm games,’” Matsuyama shares. “I said that I can’t answer questions regarding copyrights, and I can’t give any more information on future developments. I can only provide information on future developments and the latest information through manufacturers and Shonen Jump magazines.”
So there you have it, despite multiple sources reporting Matsuyama’s statement there will not be more Storm games for now, at least. That’s not to say that it won’t happen in the future, but for now we’ll just have to wait for official announcements from the manufacturers and Shonen Jump magazines.
