Want to know how to catch the elusive Pelican Eel? We’re starting to wonder if Dave the Diver is just messing with us. While the shopkeeper claims that there are over 1,000 species of fish, creature, and crustacean that we’re yet to discover in his underwater adventure, we’re starting to question whether that’s true.
After all, we’ve been diving deep into the world of Dave the Diver for over a year now, and we’ve only managed to discover a handful of brand-new aquatic species. While we’ve been able to unlock new diving gear, clothing items, and even a replica of Lara Croft’s famous Relic Hunter knife, we still haven’t managed to discover the elusive Pelican Eel.
If you’re struggling to capture this rare creature, you’re not alone. Despite being one of the most talked about creatures in the game, the Pelican Eel is both an eel and a rank 9 sea creature, making it one of the hardest to catch in the open-world game. But don’t worry, we’re here to share everything you need to know about this slippery sea serpent, including why you should bother catching it in the first place.
Where to find the Pelican Eel in Dave the Diver
You can only find the Pelican Eel in the Glacial Passage, an area that you can only access once you reach Chapter 4 in the game’s story. Once you reach this point, you’ll be able to access the Glacial Passage, which is a small area that’s only accessible by diving into a cave. As you might expect, this area is incredibly chilly, so you’ll need to equip Dave with a Wet Suit before swimming through. If you try to swim without it, he’ll refuse to enter, so don’t forget to equip it before heading there.
Even though the Glacial Passage is small, you’ll eventually be able to access the deeper parts of the area, which is where you’ll find the Pelican Eel. However, it’s not immediately clear where to find it, so here are our tips for locating this elusive creature.
Like the Moray Eel, the Pelican Eel is a rare creature, which means you won’t be able to spot one immediately. As such, you’ll need to swim back and forth through the Glacial Passage for a few minutes until you manage to spawn the creature. Keep in mind that this method works for other rare creatures too, so you may want to keep revisiting the area until you manage to find these other elusive creatures in the open-world game:
How to kill the Pelican Eel in Dave the Diver
Like we mentioned earlier, the Pelican Eel is a rare eel in the game, hence why it’s tough to catch. Thankfully, the method to kill it is also fairly straightforward, albeit a little cruel. As you can see above, the Pelican Eel is a large creature, so it’s best to use hit-and-run tactics to slowly chip away at its health. You can also use items such as the poison harpoon tip or the tranquilizer gun if you’re struggling to get close to it.
Another effective weapon against Eels, including the Pelican Eel, is the Triple Axel. Since these creatures are so long, you can easily land three shots if you manage to position yourself alongside the creature. However, we recommend using this weapon only after killing one and harvesting enough Pelican Eel Skin, as it’s much more profitable to sell sushi than the skin alone.
That’s everything you need to know about the elusive Pelican Eel. If you’re still struggling to capture this rare creature, don’t forget that we have guides for all the other elusive creatures in the game, including the Ghost Shark, the Polar Bear, and the Red Devil.
With so many secrets still left to discover, it’s no wonder why the ever-changing world of Dave the Diver is one of our favourite games on PC. Stay informed on the best techniques for capturing the Pelican Eel and earn some profitable rewards by catching this slippery sea creature.
