Charles Martinet, the Voice of Mario

Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario since 1991, is taking on a new role for Nintendo as the Mario Ambassador. The responsibilities of the position have not been fully disclosed, but it appears that Martinet will continue to voice Mario at public events and presentations. Nintendo has mentioned that Martinet will travel the world and interact with fans, potentially making appearances at conventions and signings. A video featuring Martinet and Shigeru Miyamoto will be released in the future, possibly as part of a Nintendo Direct presentation.

While the news of a new voice actor for Nintendo's iconic characters is bittersweet, it is exciting to hear that Martinet will continue to embrace his role as Mario.

Earlier this year, we reported on the new voice actor, but Nintendo has not confirmed their identity. As such, they will not be voicing Mario in the first Super Mario Bros. Wonder game or the next WarioWare game. It is uncertain whether Martinet's voice will be used in the upcoming Super Mario RPG remake, but it seems unlikely.

Martinet's most recent appearance as Mario was in the 2022 game Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, and he also had cameos in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Although Martinet won't be in the booth anymore, it is nice to see that he will still be an ambassador for the character. It will be interesting to see what he does outside of Nintendo and whether he'll make any appearances at conventions.
