Payday 3: Thrilling Heist Action and Exciting New Features
The long-awaited Payday 3 is just a month away, and the new gameplay trailer at Gamescom shows off some exciting heist action, along with some tantalizing new features. Set to release on September 21, the FPS game has seen multiple setbacks during development, with developer Starbreeze Studios facing backlash over its sale to publishing giant Nexon in 2020. Despite these problems, the game promises fast-paced action and intense heists, and the new trailer from Gamescom shows off these features alongside some new mechanics.
The trailer reveals some exciting new features for the game, including throwing knives and ziplines. These new features enhance the gameplay, making for a more exciting experience as you sneak through a shipping yard and plan your heist. Of course, things don’t always go to plan – sometimes you have to take hostages and negotiate with the police – and Payday 3 offers some nice depth in these moments.
We see gameplay from the heist ‘The Wharf Job,’ as the Payday 3 crew picks the lock of a shipping container and sneaks around inside, only to be discovered by a guard. Cue a shootout, and the crew taking cover behind shipping containers as the police attempt to take them down.
Payday 3 will be available on Xbox Game Pass on release day, so you can dive right in without a commitment. However, the game will require an always-online internet connection, even for solo play. This requirement has sparked some controversy among fans, with some cancelling pre-orders in protest. So far, Starbreeze Studios has not addressed the requirement in its announcement, though we will bring you more coverage on the game’s release in a month’s time.
