The Payday 3 beta
The Payday 3 beta kicks off next week, letting players get hands-on with the upcoming heist-shooter for a brief period. The beta test for the upcoming Payday 3 begins on Steam next week, offering players a chance to try out the new gameplay, character abilities, and more.
Payday 3 technical playtest begins on Steam next week.
The Payday 3 closed beta begins on August 2. Starbreeze says this beta is aimed at allowing players to “judge the game for yourself,” and includes all four characters from the previous game with their own unique skillsets.
Players will be able to try out a heist called “No Rest for the Wicked” with the option to approach it quietly or loudly, as well as play on all difficulty levels. However, Starbreeze says that during the beta there will be caps on character progression and the ability to spend skill points.
This is a closed beta, aimed at testing server performance and game stability, so don’t expect too much from the gameplay. Starbreeze emphasizes that this is a “technical test” that is focused on those areas above all else.
“Payday 3 is very much in a state of flux at the moment, and you may notice some rough edges,” the developer says. “That said, we think we can still show you an exciting glimpse of the game to come, and we hope you agree!”
Tyler Wilde, executive editor at PC Game Spotlight and a big Payday fan, recently played the beta and found a lot to like despite obvious rough edges. The Payday beta gameplay that you see online can be captured or streamed, so if you get access you’ll likely be able to see a lot of people playing and having fun.
It’s great to see the excitement around Payday 3 pay off so far, as the game’s blend of cooperative gameplay where things can go very, very wrong and players are forced to scramble is always a lot of fun. We’ll see how the finished game turns out in the coming weeks.
