Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 OLED Gaming Monitor

The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 OLED Gaming Monitor has been announced, part of the company’s Evina 8000 series. This new display packs a lot of pixel-powered punch, with a QD-OLED display and all the features you’d expect from a premium gaming monitor, including immersive Ambiglow surround lighting and a comprehensive USB-C docking station.

The Evinia 49M2C8900 is available in both 49- and 55-inch variants, with the former being the subject of this article. It boasts a VESA mount option, which is handy if you want to use it for both gaming and work, and an ergonomic stand that can be adjusted to the ideal height and angle.

This screen packs a lot of pixel-pushing power, with a Double-QHD resolution (5210x1440), 240Hz refresh rate, and VESA ClearMR 13000 certification for blur-free gaming. It also includes built-in DTS Sound and Ambiglow lighting, which enhance that immersive experience by bathing the screen in different colors.

The QD-OLED panel is certified for DisplayHDR True Black 400, which means it can achieve true blacks that you simply can’t get with other display types. It also covers a whopping 99% DCI-P3 color gamut, which is great for designers and photographers.

On the connectivity side, the Philips Evinia 49M2C8900 includes DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, USB type-C, and even an audio jack, so you can hook up a range of devices.

The Philips Evinia 49M2C8900 will be available in mid-September, with pricing starting at £1,650 in the UK and €1,950 in mainland Europe. That’s quite a lot to pay for a gaming monitor, but its additional features like DTS Sound and Ambiglow lighting may be enough to swing it for you.

We may even see the Evinia make it into our list of the Best Ultrawide Gaming Monitors 2023, but there are plenty of other options out there, including the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 DQHD gaming monitor.

While the Samsung monitor is a bit more expensive at $1,799, it does offer similar specs and a very similar panel. You can read more about it in our Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 DQHD gaming monitor review.
