Looking for a light-hearted list that will have you laughing? We dug through some of the funniest video game moments and mined some of the quirkiest characters, challenges, and side quests for this all-out chuck fest. Some of the games on this list have been ranked in our best PC games list or have critical acclaim, while others have simply become memes and jokes online. From voice lines to ragdoll physics, we’ve unearthed some of the funniest Gaming moments ever.
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Let’s face it, Resident Evil has funny dialogue. Its voice lines are always out of place and wacky, but Code Veronica takes it to a new level by giving a character ragdoll physics when they’re crouching. Specifically, during Claire’s second encounter with an enemy right before battling the Tyrant, she hides behind a container and then… just watch the clip.
Tears Of The Kingdom
If you’re a fan of MMO games and funny stories, Tears Of The Kingdom is where it’s at. In this expansive game, things are serious: the entire kingdom is being threatened by the demonic army, but it’s not all doom and gloom. What this immersive MMORPG game lacks in serious characters it makes up for in silly scream effects and natural jank. Particularly, definitely check out this silly grief cry as it’s an explosion gone wrong.
Resident Evil Steve Burnside confronts his zombie father.
Steve Burnside is the best. He’s a beacon of hope, a positive influence, and a perfect example of an upstanding son…okay, maybe not. At the very least, this scene from Resident Evil: Code Veronica shows the full consequence of being a good boy.
Fail the QTEs in Heavy Rain’s car scene
Heavy Rain’s scene where you’re in a moving car, attempting to stop an assassin from killing someone, is unquestionably exciting. When done perfectly (without failure), the car speeds, manoeuvres, and blasts through small amounts of scenery as you try to prevent a death. But, if you fail, the ridiculousness of a skilled FBI agent’s failures is enough to make you burst out laughing.
Pokemon – Overshooting
Starting at a higher level than your enemies and chomping down on Pidgeydoms has become a bit of a meme when it comes to Pokémon. When you’re on your 10th hour in a new game, catching the closest thing comparable to Blastoise, you start to realise eggs will probably hatch into something useful eventually. Then you get to level 100 and hit those high mountains.
Laugh along with the laugh of Tidus and Yuna
Tidus and Yuna’s laugh has confused fans for years, and many believe it’s actually too awkward to be real. While some of Square Enix’s strange creations are laugh-worthy (at least, by fans), this laugh may remain a mystery for years to come. If nothing else, it makes for a good case to imitate Final Fantasy’s most infamous laugh on Halloween.
Mortal Kombat
Everything in MK is over-the-top, but the voice acting in the endings is especially strange. These overblown vocal takes of characters doing extravagantly heroic things don’t just have the weight and gravity of a pebble, it feels like the legendarily round and heavy Moon. The hyperbolic mass makes the combat animations feel almost Pixar-like: the animations are so earnest, so expressive, and so irrepressibly silly that it becomes all the sweeter to shred your enemy with a soccer ball to the face.
Call of Duty – Pay respects at a funeral
It sounds completely ridiculous, pays homage to a family member you’ve never met, and yet, you do it. It’s as if all your years with Call of Duty has programmed you to believe that’s what you have to do. For years, this scene has provoked bouts of laughter across the globe, and with
