Building sizes and plot guides are vitally important for creating the perfect island paradise in any Animal Crossing game. Knowing where you can and can't place a certain building or item is crucial to avoid space issues and the need to relocate your dream home.
The Building Size Guide in Animal Crossing: New Horizons lists the specific plot sizes required for each item placement. Understanding these sizes will help you plan your island down to the tiniest detail.
Houses
Houses have a plot size of 5 x 4, with an additional space in front of the door that cannot be used for digging or furniture placement.
Villager Homes
Villager homes have a plot size of 4 x 4, and furniture cannot be placed directly outside the door on the porch.
Nook's Cranny
Nook's Cranny has a fixed plot size of 7 x 4, which does not change when upgraded. Furniture can be placed outside the window on the left.
The Museum
The museum has a plot size of 7 x 4, and digging with a shovel directly in front of it is not allowed.
Campsites
Campsites have a plot size of 4 x 4, and digging with a shovel directly in front of it is not allowed.
Bridges
Bridges have a fixed length that depends on the body of water they span. A minimum of 4 x 3 tiles is needed for rivers, while up to 5 tiles are needed for the ocean. The walkway on either side of the bridge requires a plot size of 2 x 1, where paths and custom paths can be placed.
Inclines
Inclines must be built either into or against a cliff, resulting in a total plot size of 2 x 4, split into an upper and lower half.

Just remember that moving buildings comes with a cost of 30,000 bells for houses and 50,000 bells for other buildings. Unfortunately, bridges and inclines cannot be moved; they must be demolished and rebuilt in a different spot.
