The Asus Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC

The Asus Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti OC builds on the previous generation, bringing a value offering at a base price of $399. It's the entry-level model in the range, putting it in contention with older graphics cards. Asus has been gradually updating its repertoire of RTX 40-series cards through the weeks since the release, but this entry point is the only one available at the moment. We've reviewed the Asus Dual already, but you may want to be reminded of the specs.

The Asus Dual RTX 4060 Ti features a redesigned AD106 GPU and runs with 4352 CUDA cores enabled out of a maximum of 4608. It has 48 ROPs, 34 RT cores, and 136 tensor cores. The RTX 4060 Ti connects to the system via a speedy PCIe 4.0 8x interface.

The boost clock speed is 2565MHz, and it includes 8GB of 18Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. You're getting three DisplayPort 1.4a ports and a single HDMI 2.1 (at the back), while a single 8-pin PCIe power connector supplies power to the 160W TDP.

In terms of design, the Asus Dual is compact enough to fit into most builds. The dual-fan cooler is adequate, given the card's 160W TDP. The Asus ROG and Strix variants are an upgrade on this design, but there's no need to spend more in order to get better thermal performance.

We've also put this graphics card up against the Asus Dual RTX 3060 Ti, the generational predecessor to the review subject. We also have the Asus Dual in our best graphics card guide.

Asus Dual RTX 4060 Ti OC Review: Specs and Performance

In benchmarks, the Asus Dual RTX 4060 Ti is nearly identical to the Founders Edition, with small differences in particular tests. The RTX 4060 Ti performs well at 1080p, and the classic resolution is likely its most important market. The RTX 4060 Ti replaces the RTX 3060 Ti, meaning the generational leap is reflected in the boost in performance. That is, if you're upgrading from a graphics card circa 2020 or earlier.

Whereas it feels like you need something like the Asus ROG Strix to enable higher refresh rate Gaming, the RTX 4060 Ti handles 1440p well enough. Again, you may have to lower some settings if you want to game at high-quality settings on the best 1440p monitors.

Our Asus Dual review unit features 8GB of frame buffer, which may prove limiting in the coming years. However, it's worth noting that Nvidia claims there's no performance uplift in the 16GB version.

What makes the Asus Dual RTX 4060 Ti worth the money is that it offers a balance of performance and cooling. You don't need to splash out on a premium variant, since there's no room for a more powerful card in these compact chassis designs.

Unfortunately, the price tag remains inflated compared to competitors, even those based on previous-generation GPUs. The 8GB frame buffer is increasingly important, and there's no room for a price readjustment to within range of the best graphics cards using Nvidia's reference design.
