Fallout 1 and 2 mods span decades, from 1997 to 1998, 1998 to 1999, 2000s, 2010s, and into the 2030s. There are still communities around Fallout 1 and 2, despite Interplay releasing a number of free games in the series since then. Let’s get started with the best Fallout 1 mods before we move onto Fallout 2 mods, and note that if you can play Fallout 1 with Screenshots or the Steam version then you can also try out the best Fallout 3 mods.

The Restoration Project aims to fix bugs and adds a shedload of cut content that never made it into the first game. Anything from cool hidden locations, weapons, and areas to characters that never made it into the thing, Fallout 1’s first Mod is must-have if you want a more polished, better-looking, and bigger game.
Fallout 1.5: Resurrection fuses the excitement and intensity of the first game with the well-thought out design and balance of the second, removing some of the more comical Easter eggs and nods to pop culture from the second Fallout game in favour of removing scrappy Bethesda humour from Fallout 2.
There are mods for many games within the series, but none better than Fallout 1.5: Resurrection. Just make sure you backup your saves before switching.
Fallout of Nevada is a Russian Fallout 2 Total Conversion set in Nevada before the Great War. The game has a hostile and desolate atmosphere – everything from the first Fallout – but also the dark and black humour of Fallout 2. The conversion is huge and features many new weapons, factions, maps, and gameplay mechanics such as voiced dialogue for key characters and karma.
Fallout Fixt is a must-have for anyone who has played and loved Fallout 1. This Mod improves Fallout 1 gameplay, utilising a multitude of patches that fix bugs and glitches in Bethesda’s classic, making using your companions more effective, and more. For me, I find getting my guns in shape before taking on the Wasteland vital, so Fallout Fixt allows you to manage a workshop, hire workmen and women to repair weapons, and manage it all right from your Pip-Boy.
Fallout Fixt will continue as long as Fallout 1 continues, utilising multiple patches to fix bugs and glitches in Bethesda’s RPG classic, making companions more effective, adding an invasion mode, and more. This invasion mode will continue as long as the Master is alive, until either you defeat the Master or the Master wins.
Hotkeys & Toolbar adds a customizable toolbar and new hotkeys to the first game, adding and improving functionality on the Pip-Boy.
Advanced Recon and Logistics Recon MK1. Advanced Recon allows you to spot empty RadAway and medical kits on the ground with your binoculars, while Logistics Recon MK1 means you can see live and deployed robots on the world map. Neat.
No more Fallout continues the story of the original Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, telling the story after the events of New Reno and continuing right up until the Master manages to open the vault door.
The Fallout Online Project aims to bring the MMO experience to the first two games, allowing multiple players to join together in one hub, filled with vendors, quests, and rewards.
