Want to know about Cortex’s skins in Crash Team Racing? The main villain has a range of unlockable items, including several skins to change his appearance. Neo Periwinkle Cortex can be a clown or a pirate, or anything in between.
Cortex’s main design in Crash Team Racing is a nod to his past appearances, with a modern yet cartoonish appearance. He still retains his signature eyebrows though, even in his blocky skin. The evil doctor has several skins to choose from, each with their own unique headwear, backpack, shadow icon, and special effects. These are shared by all characters you use Cortex with, so you can run around in a toy car even with Cortex the Clown.

To unlock this skin, you need to reach level 12 with Cortex. It’s a simple color swap, but looks good if you like those colors.
This skin changes Cortex’s outfit to a vibrant orange and purple combination. It’s a nice change, and you can unlock it by reaching level 15 with Cortex.
All characters in the game have a low-poly, blocky skin option. Cortex’s is particularly goofy, and he retains his signature eyebrows. If you purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game, you’ll have access to this skin too.
To unlock this skin, you need to reach level six with Cortex. He wears a purple and black outfit with a white face and inky black hair. It’s an interesting contrast to his normal look, and you can unlock it by earning Booster badges.
Cortex the Clown is a nod to his past as a circus performer. He wears face paint and has his hair dyed in this skin. It’s already unlocked with the character, but you may have missed the opportunity to earn it. To get it, you need to complete Level 1 of Season One’s battle pass.
In this skin, Cortex wears a futuristic outfit with cybernetic components on his face. It’s a menacing cyberpunk look and can be obtained at level 90 in Season One’s battle pass.
