Drop, formerly known as Massdrop, partners with Corsair

Drop, formerly known as Massdrop, is now partnered with Corsair, giving the keyboard maker a more reliable supply chain and the ability to produce more innovative Gaming products. Formerly an enthusiast keyboard company, Drop has grown in popularity thanks to its community-driven approach, which has now caught the eye of tech giant Corsair, who owns brands like Elgato, Scuf, and Origin PC.

Founded in 2011, Drop started off as a platform for buying and selling tech at lower prices. It later transformed into a well-known company in the enthusiast keyboard and audio space thanks to its community-driven approach. Now, Drop has been acquired by Corsair, which will allow the company to grow even further thanks to Corsair’s resources.

In a press release, Corsair says it has “acquired certain assets of Drop” but will continue to operate as a community and retain its identity. Corsair founder, Andy Paul, says Drop “will fit in perfectly within Corsair’s expanding consumer product portfolio,” and expects to “significantly grow the Drop brand worldwide.”

Drop CEO Jef Holove says the company is “very excited to have found a partner in Corsair that shares our vision and will help us grow even further.” Holove says gaining access to Corsair’s supply chain will make product availability more reliable and allow Drop to cater to more customers.

“Partnering with Corsair will make it easier to get Drop products into the hands of customers around the world,” Holove says. “Drop was founded with a community-first mentality, and this acquisition will allow us to serve our global customers better than ever before.”

With a global logistics capability, Drop will be able to better serve customers outside the US. Holove says Drop plans to release a wider range of products, including collaborations with community favorites. So far, Drop has made keyboards featuring the Lord of the Rings and Warcraft franchises, so we can likely expect more exciting keyboards like these in the future.
