In our FIFA 24 preview, we take a look at the new features in EA's soccer game, including the introduction of HyperMotion technology and its new Volta mode.

After a long wait, we finally get our hands on the latest FIFA game to see what we can expect from EA’s rebranding. While the latest installment plays it safe by sticking to its home turf, it’s clear the FIFA franchise is aiming to be the best in the business by delivering a familiar experience fans will love, while introducing new features to shake things up.

In this early build of EA SPORTS FC 24, we got the chance to test out the game for ourselves and share our thoughts, so read on for our FIFA 24 preview.

FIFA 24 HyperMotion

In FIFA 24, EA introduces a new feature called HyperMotion, which aims to bring a hyper-realistic feel to the virtual football world. While the technology has been around for some time, FIFA 24 is the first game to use it to such a large extent, meaning everything from player movement to ball physics have been reworked in order to capture more natural and fluid animations.

From the few matches we played, this technology has clearly made a huge difference to the gameplay. Player movements are more realistic and lifelike than ever before, meaning controlling your players is much more natural and intuitive. This feels especially true of free kicks and penalties, where you can really feel the power behind your kicks and strikes.

This technology also captures the movement of real players, meaning the animations you see on the field are the same ones you would see in real life. This should give you a more authentic gameplay experience, and we can see why EA has decided to make this such a key focus on this game.

With FIFA 24, EA aims to immerse you even further into the world of football with its HyperMotion technology, alongside stunning stadiums and dynamic crowds. With all these improvements, how can you go wrong?

FIFA 24 modes

There are many different ways to play FIFA 24, from the stats-focused Career mode to the more casual Volta Football. With so many options, there’s something for everyone, so whether you’re a casual player or a FIFA veteran, there’s a mode for you.

Career mode

This is the bread and butter of the FIFA franchise, so it’s no surprise to see it return in FIFA 24. In Career mode, you can manage your favorite team and lead them to victory – it’s your choice whether you want to start from the bottom and manage a second-division team, or take control of one of the world’s best sides.

From here, you’ll make all the tactical decisions that come with being a manager, from changing your starting lineup to scouting the transfer market. Since you’re managing your own team, you can even tweak the gameplay to suit your style, so you can demand crosses from the wingers or give specific instructions to your keeper.

Ultimate Team

FIFA’s other main mode, Ultimate Team, sees you building your dream team by collecting and trading player cards. You can use these cards to build your own squad, or take on the role of manager and lead your team to victory in online matches.

The aim of Ultimate Team is to get as many valuable player cards as possible, so you can build a team that includes your favorite players from around the world. You can get cards by playing matches, but it’s much easier to buy packs using FIFA coins, so expect your in-game wallet to fill up quickly.

Volta Football

Volta Football is a new, more casual mode that offers a street-style experience, bringing small-sided matches to the forefront. You can play matches across a variety of different locations, meaning there’s plenty of room for dribbling skills and fancy footwork. There are even unique Volta Football stadiums to play in, so you can show off your moves in unique locations, such as a whiskey distillery.

FIFA 24 graphics

The FIFA 24 graphics are impressive, and it looks like this year’s edition has taken a step up from FIFA 23. With detailed player models and lifelike stadiums, you’re sure to feel like you’re part of the action.

The crowd also plays a big role in bringing the atmosphere to life, and FIFA 24 has paid particular attention to the way crowds behave and react, meaning you’ll be able to see and hear the difference in each stadium you visit.

FIFA 24 audio

The audio design really adds to the overall experience, with realistic crowd chants and commentary. From the roar of the stadium’s crowd as you take a penalty kick to the commentator’s voice as they comment on your every move, FIFA 24 sounds as good as it looks.

FIFA 24 licensed teams and leagues

With FIFA 24, you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite clubs and players while you’re on the go. Many teams and leagues have been included in the upcoming game, from the English Premier League to La Liga.
