There's so much to see, interact with, and numerous characters to converse with. But fear not, because we're here to help. This Rain Code guide has been put together to ensure that you make the most out of your detective experience.
How to Earn Detective Points
Rain Code begins with the amnesiac protagonist, Yuma Kokohead, waking up in a storeroom and receiving a mysterious letter that reveals his affiliation with the World Detective Agency. With no recollection of his identity, origin, or purpose on the Amaterasu Express, Yuma embarks on a thrilling journey.
As soon as you leave the storeroom, you meet Yuma's new partner, described as being "lenient", "mean", "troublesome", and "adorable". This sets the stage for Rain Code's unique sense of humor, and as you progress through the mystery aboard the Amaterasu Express, you will encounter a variety of intriguing characters and engaging dialogues.
Detective Points (DP) play a vital role in Rain Code. The game encourages you to interact with every item and environment to accumulate these points. Each time you interact with an item that grants DP, Yuma responds with a short phrase, keeping you engaged with the game's mechanics.
The starting room is filled with various items on the shelves, including bags, hats, and books, all of which grant Detective Points when interacted with.
There is a toy robot near the shelves labeled "Lost Items". Yuma discovers a cardboard box and a shelf with umbrellas labeled as "Lost Items Temporary Storage".
Upon leaving the starting room, you come across a door with a question-and-answer section. Reading the tutorial pop-up reveals that choosing the correct answer will yield the maximum amount of Detective Points.
Continuing through the first car, you explore the rest of the area, which includes a map of the train, as well as various rooms such as a restroom, infirmary, and main control rooms.
You also encounter other detectives, including Zilch, Pucci, Melami, Aphex, and Zange, who play a crucial role in the game's exposition. Conversations with Zilch provide insights into Amaterasu Corporation, Kanai Ward, and the Amaterasu Express.
To the right of the map, you'll notice a door with a warning sign. Upon interacting with the door, you discover that the lock is broken.
Next to the door, there is a lever. Pulling the lever unlocks the door, allowing you to explore the restroom.
The restroom is a scene of drama. Inside, you'll encounter a rope, a corpse, and a butterfly.
