Tropico 6 dev Limbic Entertainment is already making a name for itself as one of the best management sim developers. Now, it’s launching a new management game that lets you build a theme park free from the laws of physics. What could go wrong? Very, very wrong. Let’s take a look at the new Park Beyond trailer to see what this weird new sim looks like.
Named Park Beyond, this upcoming management sim tasks you with constructing a seemingly normal amusement park, without consideration for anything that affects real-life parks, rides, and amusements – things like gravity, technological constraints, and laws of physics.
Thus far, we know that the park beyond question can answer all physics laws, morphing and warping existing rides, such as those found in the official Tropico 6 add-on Preston Park, into the most bizarre forms imaginable. An in-game roller coaster builder shows we can now customize our creations with more and more weird modules, such as a cannon that splits out coaster cars or extra tiers for a swing ride.
A fully-fledged trailer gives us a run-down of a few of the attractions you can create in Park Beyond, as well as a peek into the management side of things. You’ll be building roads, plonking down streetlamps and benches, and painting the earth with various decorations. You’ll also be hiring staff – impossification technology meaning you can give them bizarre upgrades, such as flamethrowing rubbish collectors or katana-wielding cooks.
You’ll be expanding the park, monitoring visitors to see what rides and areas are most popular, and trying to bring in as much cash as possible. If that all sounds a little familiar, that might be because Park Beyond shares a lot in common with previous Limbic sim title, Snow Bug. That game, however, was a free PC game, whereas Park Beyond will cost $39.99 / £31.99 / €39.99 when it launches on June 16.
You can check out Park Beyond right here on Steam. That said, if you’re more of a Limbic veteran and fancy becoming a physics-defying coaster designer without limits, you can check out our look at the massive Preston Park DLC for Tropico 6, which is currently on sale.
