Undead Minions in Hearthstone Battlegrounds Season 4
Your best Battlegrounds Season 4 Undead minion depends heavily on your deck and how you want to build it. If you have an early-game Undead deck already, you can supplement it with one of the Zombies or Skeletons offered in the mode. On the other hand, finding room for some ingenuity outside the box could even lead you to an entirely new type of Undead deck.
The Undead type offers a unique selection of minions in Hearthstone Battlegrounds Season 4 that either fit neatly into existing Undead builds or serve as general support minions in versatile decks. Whether you’re looking to dominate the early game or survive multiple hits, there’s a unique Undead minion (or group of minions) for you to use in Hearthstone’s newest game mode.
Corporal
Impressively strong stats are one thing, but if you take damage from a minion attack, the Corporal’s text means it takes an equal amount of damage. This alone makes the outcome of early combats depend on whether the Corporal attacks first or is attacked into by opposing minions. However, you can often wait for a buff to place it in a more favorable position.
Of course, in the midgame, incorporating Taunt into the Corporal’s build and placing it at the end of the attack order gains it tremendous value. The right choice between whether to fight or run in early turns determines how your Corporal performs, but in the long run, the Corporal can be stronger because it’s hit last during most combat situations.
Xylo-bones
Xylo-bones shares a similar approach as an Undead minion to Skeletons by focusing on gaining enough health to survive multiple hits rather than being re-summoned. Unlike Skeletons, however, Xylo-bones has an advantage of getting a boost in its text each time it takes damage, letting you rapidly boost its health. When you reach the critical mass of its hit points, Xylo-bones can become an enormous minion that only the largest minions can defeat without special effects.
However, unlike Zil Maqueen, Xylo-bones requires you to buff it from multiple sources for it to reach that point, and it ramps up slower compared to other minions (such as Jeeves). Overall, this Xylo-bones build has less of an immediate impact than others on the list, but if you stick to it, it can pay off quite well.
Plagued Tidewalker
Murlocs and Undeads don’t mix well, but Plagued Tidewalker is an exception to the rule. Although it isn’t a build-definer, it fits well in most Murloc builds due to its Venomous keyword.
Need a random body on your board? Plagued Tidewalker, for only three mana, is your go-to solution. You already know its value in Murloc decks, but the occasional buff can go a long way with the lucky rolls of Murloc Warleader. Venomous gives Plagued Tidewalker the opportunity to punish opponents for countering it, which is even more of an incentive against a small minion.
Radio Stars
One of the first cards nerfed in the game, this minion’s ability was reduced to a maximum of three cards instead of four, narrowing its overall viability. However, it still provides value in the right situation. Its Deathrattle gives you a free minion every round, so if you’re looking to build a deck that continually spams tokens such as Soulgatherer, or your opponent plays North Sea Hags, Radio Stars can still fit well into a deck.
Surrounding the Radio Star with other Undead or using it to gain an advantage before transitioning into a powerful endgame build are viable strategies. The golden variant can generate triples when combined with Titus Rivendare and can allow you to snowball after a single minion is secured for even more value.
T-Bones
From big to small, the T-Bones combo has a consistent number of hit points at all stages in the game. The larger bone has more health than the smaller bone, which means it hits last in most combats. This pairs well with cards like Deadscale Knight for a T-Bones-themed Murloc deck.
