Jagged Alliance 3: Mod Support and Co-op Multiplayer

Jagged Alliance 3 is a turn-based merc-manager game that is nearing its release date on Steam and GOG. The game will include mod support, allowing players to create and share their own mercenaries. This feature is significant as the previous game, Jagged Alliance 2, was kept alive by the efforts of modders.

The ability to create new mercenaries will be particularly useful in Jagged Alliance 3, where players are tasked with managing a team of mercenaries and hiring them to fight battles. Developer Haemimont Games believes that modding is crucial for the ongoing success of a game. They are providing players and creators with tools to enhance the game experience and create new content for the community.

The appearance editor tool in Jagged Alliance 3 allows players to create new mercenaries or non-playable characters using existing assets or by exporting new models and animations created in Blender. Players can also upload 2D portraits to further customize their characters. Voice responses for the characters can also be created using the in-game tool.

In a future update, Jagged Alliance 3 will introduce a map editor and quest editor, giving players even more creative freedom. The addition of a quest editor is especially exciting, as it allows players to create unique quests for their mercenaries.

One of the most anticipated features in Jagged Alliance 3 is the co-op multiplayer mode. Players can experience the campaign together, starting fresh or joining an existing singleplayer campaign. If one player drops out, the host can continue the game in singleplayer mode. Both players can load any saves created during co-op gameplay and continue them in singleplayer.

There are some restrictions in co-op gameplay. Both players must stay in the same sector, and dialogue control is given to the player who initiated the conversation. Additionally, players will share the same pool of mercenaries.

The inclusion of co-op multiplayer mode in Jagged Alliance 3 is reminiscent of the multiplayer functionality in Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games. This mode was well-received and included a scenario and campaign editor. The similarities between the two games are a promising development considering the mixed reception of previous Jagged Alliance titles.

Jagged Alliance 3 is set to release on July 14 via Steam and GOG platforms. Check out the Jagged Alliance 3 release date trailer for a preview of what's to come.
