Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Super Mario Bros. Wonder has unveiled its first trailer for E3, providing a glimpse into how the Mushroom Kingdom's latest plumber is revolutionizing the world from darkness to brightness. Notably, Princess Daisy can now be played.
Princess Daisy is a legendary character in the Mario franchise, renowned for her appearances alongside Peach in Mario golf and Mario Party, as well as her leading role in her own Kingdom games. Nonetheless, she has often been overshadowed by other characters like Yoshi, Toad, and Nabbit in most Mario games, especially beyond spin-offs.
Fortunately, the upcoming Switch and Wii U game's debut trailer, with a runtime of 22 seconds, showcases Daisy's representation of her regions in uncharted territories while aiding Mario in his quest to cleanse the world. Most significantly, it reveals that Princess Daisy can be played as a main character in a Mario game for the very first time. This is undoubtedly a victory for Daisy enthusiasts everywhere, after decades of her being sidelined.
Mario Party and Kingdom games have successfully showcased Daisy's personality and sportsmanship, solidifying her status as a fan-favorite in these arcade-style genres. Even Mario Kart 8 has experienced a surge in Daisy's popularity and merchandise, with Nintendo announcing a Daisy Kart shortly after the Super Mario Bros. Wonder reveal. As someone who enjoys playing as Daisy in these titles, I am already eagerly anticipating the opportunity to play as her in this forthcoming Mario game, despite the potential similarities to Peach but with different sprites.
Presently, all we have is a single screenshot of Daisy as a playable character, as the game returns to its roots with a simplistic graphics design reminiscent of the N64 era. The extent of Daisy's unique abilities in comparison to Mario or any character unlock requirements remain unknown.
We hope that all the hard work you have invested in those special golden Mario blocks bearing Daisy's face will pay off. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is set to release on October 10. For more details, read our complete Super Mario Bros. Wonder preview here.
