Mortal Kombat 11's Endings

Mortal Kombat 11's story is filled with complex narratives, deadly battles, and intricate webs involving time travel. The Mortal Kombat series has a history of storytelling that doesn't play by the rules, and Mortal Kombat 11 is no different. From having complex pasts to the ability to completely rewrite history, the series' lore is an ongoing adventure to follow.

Mortal Kombat 11 rewrites the entire timeline of the long-running fighting game series through the events that occur in the game, leading neatly into the next installment. There are multiple endings in Mortal Kombat 11, which are unlocked based on the player's performance in a final fight. We'll explain what to do to get each ending and explain all of the lore behind the newly introduced Kronika.

Mortal Kombat 11 Endings

There are a total of five Mortal Kombat 11 endings, broken down as follows:

This is the best ending in the game. To get it, you need to win each round without a loss, resulting in Liu Kang rewriting the entire timeline with the help of Kitana. This leads into Mortal Kombat 12, which sees a new era under Liu Kang's watch.

This ending is similar to the best ending, but Liu Kang takes the mortal Raiden with him instead of Kitana.

Mortal Kombat 11's bad ending is non-canon and only occurs if Kronika wins the battle. In this scenario, she kills Liu Kang and destroys the Hourglass, cementing herself as the new ruler of time.

After the main game concludes, you can play through the DLC, titled Aftermath. This continues the story and sees Liu Kang and his allies travel through time to retrieve a non-broken crown. Here are the canon endings for the DLC:

Aftermath Final Battle

This isn't technically an ending, but it does offer a final showdown between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung. After the previous battles in the DLC, Liu Kang uses Shang Tsung to defeat Kronika and gain control over the Hourglass.

In Liu Kang's ending, he erases Shang Tsung from history and creates a new era under his watch. This culminates with Fire God Liu Kang appearing in Mortal Kombat 1.

In Shang Tsung's ending, he defeats Liu Kang, absorbs his soul, and uses the Hourglass to rewrite the entire timeline, becoming the ruler of all realms. This is non-canon, however.

Mortal Kombat 11 Tower of Time Mode

The Tower of Time mode also features special unlockable character endings but, like Shang Tsung's ending mentioned above, are non-canon and purely for fun. Here is the complete list of character endings in the DLC:

That's the Mortal Kombat 11 story explained, with Kronika destined to play a huge role in the next game in the series. If you're looking for a fighting game like Mortal Kombat 11, here are the best fighting games on PC.
