A New 2D Mario Game in Development

A new 2D Mario game is allegedly on the way, and it is expected to be announced during the next Nintendo Direct. According to 'Pyoro' on Twitter, who has a proven track record for accurate predictions regarding Sonic Superstars and Everybody 1-2-Switch, the new Mario game is already in the works.

Given the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie, it would make sense for Nintendo to follow up with a new Mario game. The upcoming game releases for the latter half of 2023 from Nintendo are notably sparse, making it even more plausible for a big announcement to be made.

A Remake of an SNES Classic

In addition to the new Mario game, Pyoro mentions that a remake of an SNES classic will also be announced. However, no further details were provided to support this claim. The possibilities for the classic SNES game to be remade are vast, with suggestions ranging from Chrono Trigger to Super Mario RPG.

While it is advisable to temper excitement until an official Nintendo Direct announcement is made, the anticipation for something special is certainly building. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming Nintendo Switch Direct.
