Extreme overclocker CENS has achieved an impressive feat by pushing an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card to a clock speed of 4,090 MHz. This achievement was made on an EVGA iChill liquid cooled system, showcasing CENS' eye for symmetry.
This milestone proves that timing is everything in the world of overclocking. Just last week, another overclocker named Splave managed to surpass the 4,000 MHz milestone, but CENS has now taken it back.
Splave announced his achievement on Twitter, with the help of the HWBot database. He used the GPUPi v3,3 32B benchmark to reach the milestone, which automatically recorded his record in the database along with a corresponding score.
Since there is no general GPU frequency chart on HWBot, overclockers often rely on benchmarks like GPUPi to register their frequencies. Splave did just that last week, so he still holds that particular world record.
CENS shared a GPU-Z screenshot and a picture of their LN2 cooled system to prove their achievement. The GPU was cooled to around -35 degrees Celsius during the overclocking process.
Although it is unclear what specific hardware CENS used this time, their previous attempts likely involved the Colorful GeForce RTX 4090 iGame LAB graphics card, as their wallpaper still features the logo of this graphics card.
CENS GPU overclocking world record:
In previous overclocking adventures, CENS achieved the following frequencies:
It is worth noting that Splave preferred the Asus ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 in his previous overclocking endeavors. It is likely that the hardware he used featured similar system components, including an Intel Core i9 13900K and an EVGA DARK Kingpin Z690 motherboard. He also utilized specialist extreme cooling paraphernalia from KingPin and Elmor Labs.
