More Ultra Beasts in Pokemon GO

As the Pokemon GO phenomenon continues, developer Niantic keeps the game fresh and exciting by regularly adding new creatures, events, and challenges. Niantic has been expanding the roster of battle-ready Pokemon with the introduction of new generations, including the addition of Legendary Raid Bosses and a Poison-type tier to the DPS chart.

However, no legendary video game franchise would be complete without legendary creatures. Niantic ensures that fan favorites such as MewTwo are included in Pokemon GO's combat-centric gameplay. Now, players can look forward to the return of Ultra Beasts through Ultra Wormholes.

Articuno, a shadow version of one of the Ultra Beasts, is set to make its way back to Pokemon GO. This Raid Boss variant is associated with Team GO Rocket's Giovanni and features in the latest 5-star raid tier. But Articuno is not the only Ultra Beast making a comeback; Buzzwole, Pheromosa, and Celerhana have also appeared in raids from time to time.

The Official Pokemon Facebook page has hinted at the arrival of more Ultra Beasts in Pokemon GO in the near future. The powerful creatures will enter the game through unstable portals called Ultra Wormholes. In the main Pokemon games, Ultra Wormholes serve as entry points for incredibly powerful creatures known as Ultra Beasts.

In Pokemon GO, Ultra Wormholes will be featured in special event Raid encounters. Instead of Eggs appearing prior to a Raid, an Ultra Wormhole will appear to signal the emergence of an Ultra Beast. The specific Ultra Beast that will spawn is usually associated with a corresponding event in the game.

For example, a screenshot shows an Articuno encounter where it was part of the Pokemon GO Fest 2022 celebrations. Although it is unclear if Niantic will repeat the event, it gives players a good indication of which Ultra Beast they can expect from a Raid encounter.

Aside from Raid encounters, Niantic has already added several Ultra Beasts to the mobile game:

  • Buzzwole: A Bug/Fighting type Ultra Beast
  • Celesteela: A Steel/Flying type Ultra Beast
  • Guzzlord: A Dark/Ghost type Ultra Beast. This one was added in a special event called Greedy Gluttons.

While these rare creatures were primarily introduced in special events and are only available once, they add an exciting element to the gameplay. Keep an eye out for future updates on new Ultra Beasts in Pokemon GO!
