The Rainbow Six Siege anti-cheat technology, known as “QB”

Ubisoft's “QB” technology has proven to be a daunting challenge for cheat developers in Rainbow Six Siege. The tedious process of creating cheats for the popular FPS game has led some developers to abandon their efforts altogether. After experiencing multiple bans and having their work automatically detected and removed by the Siege anti-cheat system, one developer admitted they are “done trying”.

Ubisoft's anti-cheat initiatives

Ubisoft has recently provided an update on its two anti-cheat initiatives, starting with the widely-known “MouseTrap” technology. This technology effectively counters mouse and keyboard spoofing devices on consoles, resulting in a significant 78% decrease in daily mouse and keyboard abuse.

However, Ubisoft's current focus is on QB, a PC-only feature specifically designed to make cheat development an uphill battle for cheat makers. While Ubisoft remains tight-lipped about the specifics of QB to protect its integrity, the studio affirms that it is proving to be an effective method of anti-cheat.

Although players may be disappointed by the lack of information regarding QB, the studio's decision to withhold details is likely due to concerns about hackers finding countermeasures. However, since cheats are already being automatically detected and removed, it is doubtful that hackers won't eventually uncover QB's inner workings. The lack of disclosure may be attributed to the fact that QB lacks the same level of intrigue and excitement as MouseTrap. QB is the anti-cheat equivalent of dad jokes, unlike a name like “Quantum Bayonet” which feels more fitting.

Ubisoft's commitment to combatting cheaters

QB represents Ubisoft's ongoing efforts to innovate in the realm of anti-cheat technology. The studio is dedicated to combating cheaters, and QB has already proven to be a significant deterrent to cheat development in Rainbow Six Siege.

With QB in place and frequent daily client updates to Rainbow Six Siege's Steam version, it is possible that Ubisoft is making the game incompatible with current cheats. Although this theory remains unconfirmed by the studio, the daily client updates lend some credence to the idea.

Until more information about QB is revealed, players will continue to observe its impact through the anti-cheat war's main battlefield – Siege's matchmaking system. In the meantime, players can explore the best Rainbow Six Siege operators if they are looking to try a new operator or consider the best Rainbow Six Siege maps for a different map experience.
