Retro-RTS Dying Breed: Command & Conquer meets Ravaged
Retro-RTS Dying Breed aims to be a direct and honest love letter to 90s RTS games, with a focus on fast-paced action, classic mechanics, and some incredibly over-the-top FMV cutscenes. Players will build bases, gather resources, and battle hordes of zombies and giant burrowing earthworms as they try to bring peace to a ravaged world.
With a post-apocalyptic setting, the upcoming RTS game from MicroProse and 'retro-RTS' studio Sarnayer embraces the campy charm of the late 90s Command & Conquer era.
While Sarnayer is based in Tehran, Iran, the team has previously worked on mobile games and the upcoming retro-inspired title is their first PC release, with publishing support from MicroProse Software. The studio describes Dying Breed as 'an honest and direct love letter to the classic RTS games of the 90s,' with a focus on fast-paced action alongside classic RTS mechanics. In the game's trailer, we see soldiers blowing up zombies and worms, accompanied by a wild '90s electro-metal soundtrack.
'The world of Dying Breed is filled with shiny energy minerals, underground monsters, and warring factions,' publisher MicroProse says. 'Players must gather resources, build bases, and research new technologies to survive.' The studio continues, 'Be cunning and sneaky, or be bold and aggressive! Dying Breed rewards both clever and aggressive playstyles.'
