The Riverdale Season 7 trailer teases a blossoming Veronica and Reggie romance

Streamline your heart, because the CW show’s newest couple is teased in the Riverdale Season 7 trailer, and it could lead to something more.

While fans have seen hints of a Veronica and Reggie relationship in past seasons of Riverdale, the seventh season appears poised to give them a relationship to root for – just in time to kick off the summer anime watching season. The popular series isn’t known for shying away from new romantic storylines with its characters, and this potential Veroni is no different.

Veronica and Reggie’s relationship on Riverdale

Veronica and Reggie have some stage-setting history from their high school years. Veronica used to be close pals with Reggie’s twin sister, Josie, and he used to stare longingly at her from across the cafeteria.

Veronica mentioned during Season 6 that she dated Reggie for a bit, though it was an off-and-on thing where they also flirted with friends. During this period of their lives, Veronica also dated Chuck Clayton, so it’s fair to say Reggie was probably always in the background trying to get her attention.

Outside of two small moments in the same episode, Veronica and Reggie’s dynamic mostly took a backseat during the ‘The Twilight Zone’ season. However, this season changes that with more time spent exploring the football player’s connections to the Lodge family and his role in Lodge Industries once Hermione becomes the sheriff of Riverdale.

The Veronica and Reggie chemistry is definitely there, though, and the show even included a scene in ‘The Lost Weekend’ where Veronica seemingly confesses to having feelings for Reggie. But with the show’s new backdrop set in the 1950s, could this be the season Veronica and Reggie end up as endgame?

Will Veronica and Reggie be endgame?

Absolutely, yes. Personal preference, I suppose. While Veronica has been burned by the likes of Logan, Archie, and Felix, Reggie appears to be the good, honest, and genuine type that is worth her time. Theirs is a slow burn, but if Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has anything to say about it, we should expect to see Veronica and Reggie together by the end of the season (MTV News has reached out for comment).

- Veronica and Reggie weren’t included in season six’s ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ montage, but that could have been a missed opportunity. All of the other couples in the flash-forward scene were wearing their wedding attire; the Lodge family matriarch donned a wedding veil, Archie wore a tuxedo, and Cecilia wore a dress similar to the one Betty wears in Season 5’s ‘The Lost Weekend’.
