Being able to field the best NBA 2K23 teams is the key to victory when playing the NBA 2K23 simulation mode. While it’s possible to simply pick the best players, building an NBA 2K23 roster centered around players led by a star player can be the difference between winning games and getting swept in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Just because a team has a 94 overall or 98 power forward doesn’t mean it will be one of the best NBA 2K23 teams. There are plenty of other factors to consider when assembling your squad, starting with the head coach and number of players on the roster. While some teams, like the LA Clippers, are hampered by injury, others, like the Brooklyn Nets, have a lack of talent. Here they all are: The best 15 squads in NBA 2K23.

The best 15 NBA 2K teams are:

Brooklyn Nets

This playoff contender soared after the off-season trades that landed De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. The Nets no longer have Dzanan Musa and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on their roster, meaning the focus is now on youth. Mikal Bridges is their star player after a breakout season, but Cam Johnson is their second-best player; he’s a lot of fun to play with, being a long and pass-first wing.

The chemistry options presented with the Nets actually increase their overall rating, as you can use defensive options with D’Angelo Russell and Johnson or go for selfless options with Bridges and Mitchell Robinson. Thanks to the slew of moves made, the Nets are guaranteed to bounce back after a disappointing season.

Sacramento Kings

The Kings successfully addressed their shortcomings in the off-season, acquiring Domantas Sabonis and sharp shooter Gary Clark to complement their core of De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Willie Cauley-Stein.

The Kings may not be the flashiest group at the team level, but they offer a lot of interesting options when in the hands of a skilled player. Don’t let Fox’s overall rating of 87 fool you – under the basketball simulation’s ruling that he is an average three-point shooter, he becomes the perfect distributor. Add in Bogdanovic and Hield, and you’ve got a potent small three pairing.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors are transitioning at the moment, potentially shopping star players like Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby in an attempt to attract big-name free agents this summer. While a new era could be on the horizon for the Raptors, they’ve still got a solid roster to work with in the meantime.

If you’re planning on keeping Siakam and Anunoby in your Raptors roster, they both make the team very good. Siakam was one of the best volume scorers in the league this season, with Anunoby on the court able to clean up his misses. For OG, that’s thanks to his reliable mid-range game and good defensive capabilities.

On the other hand, the shooting in the Raptors’ starting five leaves a lot to be desired if you’re not playing with Siakam or Anunoby. Filling their role is Mikal Bridges, who can provide some stability from long range but is much better suited to playing off the ball.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls were a disaster this season and are in need of a shakeup. Their potential trades may include Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, which would change the dynamic of the starting lineup. There’s also a chance both players stay, but Chicago still needs to make changes within its roster.

De’Aaron Fox and Jordan Clarkson walk on water in the sim, but it’s hard to feel confident fielding them as your main two scorers in MyGM. Maybe it’s not as bad as it seems – field them alongside Bogdan Bogdanovic, who is an absolute dunk machine known for his three-point shooting, and you have a complementary pair.
