The Beyblade anime was a cornerstone of many childhoods. Fans were so dedicated that they collected a wide range of Beyblade merchandise, from belts and pens to notebooks and slippers. The popularity of Beyblade was unrivaled.
In the ‘90s, a similar toy called Sky Dancers gained attention. These toys were launched into the sky using a ripcord, spinning like propellers. Unfortunately, Sky Dancers were associated with numerous injuries, leading to a recall due to safety concerns. Other toys from that era, such as Cap Guns, Slip N’ Slides, and lawn darts, also faced scrutiny for their potential hazards.
Surprisingly, Beyblade has managed to thrive throughout the years, despite its risks. The second generation, introduced in 2008, saw the release of heavier metal Beyblades that spun faster and had more destructive capabilities. The 2016 introduction of the Burst System made Beyblades explode upon taking enough damage, sending metal fragments in different directions.
Now, the upcoming fourth generation, Beyblade X, promises to be the most dangerous version yet. Featuring a gear-shaped bit that catches onto an arena track, Beyblade X accelerates back to the center at incredible speeds. The new launcher is said to be three times faster than its predecessor, amplifying the intensity of battles. Additionally, the larger dome covering the arena top prevents the tops from launching out, ensuring maximum destruction within the confines of the arena.
Although the current launchers rotate the Beyblades clockwise, left-spin launchers are expected to be introduced in the future, allowing for unpredictable battles. The potential for chaos is thrilling.
