Vampire Survivors: Battling Enemies Together with Friends
Vampire Survivors, the popular survival game by Funcom, is introducing a highly anticipated update that will allow players to experience the game in couch co-op multiplayer mode. After years of being limited to singleplayer or third-party tools, Vampire Survivors is finally going social, letting you and three friends join forces to defeat enemies and survive in a world filled with darkness. This exciting update was confirmed by the developer in a recent blog post.
Introducing the New Co-op Mode
One of the key features of this update is the new co-op mode that will enable up to four players to battle enemies together. Whether you are starting a new game or continuing your progress, the co-op mode will seamlessly integrate with both. You will have the flexibility to play solo or with friends, without any restrictions. This mode will be compatible with the base game as well as all existing DLCs.
The new couch co-op mode in Vampire Survivors will offer a seamless experience, allowing you to easily switch between solo and co-op play. Developer poncle has also confirmed that the mode will be compatible with Steam Deck, allowing you to enjoy the game with friends even if you are not in close proximity.
Shared Progression and Gameplay
While the specific mechanics of having four players on-screen simultaneously have not been revealed, poncle did mention that the core gameplay will remain largely unchanged. The XP bar will be shared among players, ensuring that everyone levels up together. It is worth noting that the co-op mode will not introduce any multiplayer-specific achievements or levels, so players can choose to play co-op or solo based on their preferences.
Although online play support is not included in this update, you can still play with your friends remotely using Steam Remote Play Together.
A Glimpse of the Future
While face-to-face PvP support is not currently planned, poncle teased that there might be surprises in store for players to test their friendships. Funcom has a history of adding unexpected elements to their games, so it will be interesting to see what surprises await in the co-op mode of Vampire Survivors.
The Vampire Survivors co-op update will be available in the near future. If you can't wait to try out the new couch co-op mode, a beta version is currently available on the new-engine branch on Steam. To access the beta, simply right-click on Vampire Survivors in your Steam library, go to 'properties,' select the Betas menu, and choose 'new-engine' from the beta participation dropdown.
