Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2
A new Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 game trailer debuts at The Summer Games Fest as we head into the final stretch to find out more about the newest entry in the Warhammer 40k series. The trailer, which you can view below, showcases some exciting combat and has some hidden details for fans to spot.
We got to see some gameplay footage back at GDC in March, but nothing quite like this. Imperial Forge Studio says this trailer showcases the game’s “true realization of combat,” so it appears to be a reflection of the game’s finalized combat systems. Most importantly though, the trailer displays some of the in-game details that you’ll encounter while on missions. To start, Captain Titus sports some upgraded armor with gold filigree and purity seals. This hints that a decent amount of time has passed since the events of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine where Titus had his armor fully adorned with purity seals.
In any case, The Summer Games Fest trailer showcases a co-op campaign where you and a friend can team up to take on the Tyranids. Different unit types are shown off, including hormagaunts and flying gargoyles. Some impressive weapons, such as the classic bolter, bolt pistol, chainsword, and heavy-bolter are showcased as well. Imperial Forge Studio did confirm that you can use ranged weapons against the hordes, so you won’t be completely overwhelmed if you have a steady hand.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the trailer is the setting. Although we saw some industrial areas and planetary defense weapons in the initial gameplay teaser, we see some gothic architecture here as well. It appears that the planet invaded is indeed a forge world, or perhaps a highly civilized planet. We certainly hope to find out soon. As for when we find out the Space Marine 2 release date, we hope that it happens sooner rather than later.
