Windows AI Copilot: Your Personal Assistant for Windows 11
Windows AI Copilot has arrived on Windows Insider builds, giving users the opportunity to experience the new AI 'personal assistant' ahead of the Windows 11 release date. With the latest update, Copilot is now accessible within the OS, offering a range of helpful features.
Serving as a virtual assistant, Copilot is designed to assist users with complex tasks within Windows, similar to Siri, Alexa, or Cortana. It can navigate the Windows 11 system, provide Spotify playlist suggestions, summarize documents, and much more, all without the need to open Command Prompt.
Initially announced at Microsoft's Future Decoded conference, Windows AI Copilot is officially launching on Windows Insider builds. Users on Dev Channel Build 23493 can now access Copilot, although it is unclear whether it will remain available once Windows 11 reaches broad availability.
During its debut at the conference, Copilot showcased its capabilities by writing stories about dogs on the moon. In practice, it proves to be a genuinely helpful addition to Windows, performing tasks expected from an assistant without requiring the use of a browser or app.

Personally, I am hopeful that Copilot can automatically switch to dark mode. However, I am also mindful of its limitations and will ensure it does not accidentally delete System 32 when instructed to do so.
Windows AI Copilot offers various conversation styles, allowing users to choose between 'creativity,' 'balance,' and 'precision' to suit their needs. Personally, I am most excited to utilize it for writing stories about dogs on the moon, although the precision setting will be ideal for simply switching to dark mode.
The exact release date for Copilot on standard Windows 11 builds is still uncertain. We will keep you informed as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, you can sign up for the Windows Insider program and try it out yourself.
While the introduction of Copilot raises questions about potential hidden agendas behind centralized AI assistance, it is undeniably fascinating to have Windows write stories about dogs on the moon at your request.
