Intel denies alleged letter about CPU price hikes, refutes rumored increases for Alder Lake and Raptor chips
An alleged letter from Intel to partners about a potential CPU Price Hike has been denied by the chip maker, which says it has not sent a letter outlining price changes for its CPUs. A rumored price hike for Alder Lake and Raptor chips in the next few weeks is also not true, it seems.
The purported letter from Intel, which surfaced on Twitter earlier this morning, suggests that the company is enacting across-the-board price increases for CPU chips. The letter suggests that the increases are due to new investments and restructuring that “will require significant financial and human resource investments.”
In response to the claim, an Intel spokesperson tells PC Gamer, “We have not sent a letter to our partners outlining across-the-board price increases. Our pricing communications are typically formal and specific to product SKUs, and there are no price changes initiated as of yet.”
The spokesperson also denies the rumor that Alder Lake and Raptor chips will see price increases in the next few weeks, saying, “We have no plans to increase prices on Alder Lake or Raptor in the next few weeks.”
Given the current market conditions, Intel would likely see a negative reaction from its partners and consumers alike if it were to enact such a broad price hike. We’ll keep you updated with more news as it comes.
