Intel Raptor Lake Refresh: Imminent Launch and New Features

The launch of Intel Raptor Lake Refresh is apparently imminent, with the company's refreshed 14nm processors said to arrive in October. The news follows the recent launch of the first Intel Core i9-12800K, and it suggests we could see more desktop 'K' chips arrive in the coming months.

The latest intel comes from Chinese PC brand Machenike, which has published a new video showcasing its upcoming gaming desktops. The company seemingly plans to roll out new products in October, and they'll apparently feature Intel Core processors and RTX 40 series graphics cards.

PC Builders have only just started to see more options for Intel Raptor Lake Refresh appear, following years of the status quo with Skylake and Kaby Lake Refresh. However, the recent launch of the Core i9-12800K has shown that there are more processors on the way, and Machenike's news suggests we'll see them arrive sooner rather than later.

Whether or not you'll be interested in Intel's upcoming chips will likely depend on what they offer. We've already seen some leaked benchmarks for the new processors, and they suggest that the upgrades over Skylake Refresh aren't as significant as we might have hoped.

That said, we should treat this news as rumour for now, as it doesn't come from a particularly reliable source. Nonetheless, previous leaks suggest that the company's plans for next-gen Core processors may extend beyond Raptor Lake Refresh, with the refreshed 14nm chips potentially leading a larger wave of new products.

Intel has remained relatively quiet about its plans for next-gen Core processors this year, with the split between Raptor Lake Refresh and Meteor Lake seemingly only confirmed in recent weeks. Laptop users will receive Meteor Lake later in the year, but desktop PC builders will see nothing but refreshed 14nm parts for the rest of the year.

Machenike desktop PCs will apparently feature PCIe Gen5 SSDs as standard, too, with the technology now becoming much more common. Pre-built systems with Raptor Lake at the time of launch didn't include PCIe Gen5 SSDs, so it'll be nice to see the technology become standard for all of the company's systems.

Stay on the cutting edge of technology with Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh processors.
