Guardians of the Galaxy 3: The Grandmaster - A Long-Awaited Marvel Villain

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has been hailed as the best MCU project since Endgame, marking a triumphant return for the franchise. Following the mixed reception to the Gerry Duggan and Shane Schwarz- quester War of the Realms, the MCU has learned from past mistakes and given more time to develop fresh faces like John Krasinski as Reed Richards. Critics unanimously shared excitement not only for Guardians 3 but also for the direction of Marvel moving forward.

Of course, after ten years and 22 films of superhero blockbusters, the shine and freshness of the MCU have considerably worn out. Viewers have expressed fatigue with aspects such as time travel and resurrection, and there have been concerns about the repetitive nature of Marvel's villains. According to our editor, "The MCU has an increasingly icky record for killing off some pretty great actors in roles that haven't really been explored by the end of the movie."

Marvel's previous villains, like Malthael and Gorr the God Butcher, had the potential to be memorable multiversal additions, but were swiftly eliminated. Marvel is partially aware of the frustrating repetition and is striving to deliver better villains. Guardians 3 is already being praised for that, and it seems Marvel has learned its lesson. The hope is to see fresh faces, like John Krasinski as Reed Richards, rather than resurrecting old characters like Iron Man and Captain America.

Regardless of the future of Kang in the MCU, fans hope that the next great villain introduced will not be a mere one-movie distraction but a substantial and memorable addition to the franchise - precisely the kind they've given us recently with The Grandmaster. Critics have been positive about Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and fans can look forward to Marvel's entire slate over the next five years, including all the superhero TV shows.
