Roblox is coming to Meta Quest VR, one of the biggest games in the world, so the VR industry could be set for a major breakthrough. Roblox VR will be available on Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, and the upcoming Quest 3. An initial open beta will enable Roblox developers to optimise their existing games for VR, as well as create entirely new experiences specifically designed for the virtual reality platform.
Some of the existing Roblox experiences will automatically be added to the Roblox VR lineup, as they already work well in VR without modifications. From there, developers will be able to create experiences specifically designed for VR, potentially leading to the creation of a range of new experiences for players to enjoy.
This move is a significant achievement for Meta’s VR efforts, as previous attempts to bring VR gaming into the mainstream failed. For example, Valve’s Half-Life: Alyx offered an interesting take on VR, but it was just a single game. By contrast, Roblox offers millions of different experiences and has a large and enthusiastic player base, so it could finally propel virtual reality into the mainstream.
Roblox VR will be compatible with other platforms such as Xbox, iOS, Android, and desktop, enhancing the social aspect of VR gaming. This means that you’ll be able to play with friends who are using a non-VR device, enhancing the social aspect of virtual reality.
Roblox VR Open Beta Release Date
