Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life Cooking Guide
Want to know what recipes you can cook in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life? Cooking is an essential part of life in Forgotten Valley. It’s not just about satisfying your hunger meter; it’s also about befriending the townsfolk by giving them gifts. Each person has their own preferences when it comes to what they like to eat, and you’ll need to be on top of your culinary game to keep up with their ever-changing tastes.
The kitchen functionality is available right from the start of your story in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. As the years pass, your kitchen will grow and upgrade, offering new possibilities. The first kitchen you have is simple, but it’s more than enough to make the basic dishes you learn early in the game. As time passes and your town grows, your kitchen will expand, and by Year Two, you’ll have a Refrigerator at home that can store crops, edible foraged goods, fish, and animal products. This allows you to use them directly from the Refrigerator while cooking, making the process a little more convenient. Here’s a breakdown of each step of the cooking process in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.
How to Cook in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
As you might expect, the first cooking function you learn is to make a simple soup. All you need is a pot and water to make a nourishing meal.
Soups restore a small amount of hunger, and the more ingredients you add, the more filling the dish will be. Different meals restore different amounts of hunger, with larger meals being more filling. Each townsfolk has preferences when it comes to the meals they accept, and some may have aversions to certain ingredients like fish. It’s recommended to keep a variety of meals on hand if you want to befriend the people of Forgotten Valley faster.
There are two ways to cook in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. The first is to use ingredients to create a new dish. For example, if you have carrots, eggplant, and milk, you can create Eggplant Parmesan. You’ll notice that the recipe book will have a picture of the final dish and a list of ingredients required. The option to cook from a recipe allows you to select the category of the meal and then choose the specific dish. The cooking screen will highlight compatible ingredients and fade out incompatible ones, making it easy to select the right items.
You can cook multiples of a dish as long as you have the necessary ingredients. Different kinds of fish and crops of different grades do not stack, so you’ll need to manually make the recipe each time if you have different items. Meals with the same name will stack in your inventory, even if they use different ingredients in the recipe.
New recipes and categories can be unlocked by cooking and increasing your cooking skill. At the beginning of the game, you start with the ability to make soup and salad dishes, but as your skill improves, you’ll unlock new categories like Hors D’oeuvres, Desserts, and Entrees.
