Each candidate has their own unique personality, but they all have one thing in common: an affection meter that tracks their romantic feelings towards you. To increase their affection, engage in conversations and give them thoughtful gifts.
Increasing Affection in A Wonderful Life
In addition to the friendship meter, marriage candidates have their own affection meter. To raise their affection, take the time to talk and give gifts. Remember, you can only marry one person, so choose wisely and focus on building a strong relationship with your favorite candidate. To determine if they are ready for marriage, watch all five of their cutscenes and check their diary or relationship information. If their affection is high enough, you can propose by giving them a Blue Feather at any point during Year One.

Marriage Equality in A Wonderful Life
A Wonderful Life allows for same-sex marriage, treating all spouses as partners regardless of gender. If you're interested in marrying someone of the same gender, make sure you've seen all their cutscenes and they have equal options for either gender.
Proposing in A Wonderful Life
Once you have chosen a spouse, a cutscene will play where you and your partner announce your upcoming marriage to the townsfolk. Each character's cutscene is unique, and jealousy may be displayed by other marriage candidates. After receiving congratulations from the town, you will be summoned to the forest for a wedding ceremony. During this ceremony, vows will be exchanged, and your spouse will discuss the topic of having children, asking your preference for a boy or a girl. Your choice will determine the gender of your child, who will move into your bedroom during Year Two and grow up throughout the game.
