While the character designs in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life are definitely an improvement over those in the previous game, some of the new looks in the Nintendo Switch game are hit-and-miss. Gustafa, Lumina, and Cecilia all win with their redesigns, while the new Cody, Muffy/Molly, Marlin/Matthew, and Rock are all slightly disappointing when compared to their Harvest Moon counterparts.

All Story of Seasons marriage candidates
Here are all the marriage candidates in Story of Seasons:
Gustafa
Gustafa’s new design in Story of Seasons tones down his more eccentric look, losing some charm in the process. His new hair is much less interesting than his previous scarves, and his facial hair makes him look older than his previous youthful appearance.
Lumina
Lumina was previously a child in Harvest Moon, while in Story of Seasons she’s a grown-up from the start, preventing any romance while she’s underage. Her look maintains her classic farmgirl appearance, with a more grown-up spin on her outfit.
Cody
Cody becomes Gordy in Story of Seasons, but looks very similar to his Harvest Moon counterpart, with a slimmed-down appearance and a lighter expression.
Muffy/Molly
Muffy, now Molly, retains her charm with more earnest eyes and an updated, less frilly-looking clothing choice.
Marlin
Marlin becomes Matthew, who loses his blue overalls for a more approachable, conventionally attractive appearance.
Nami
Nami’s redesign in Story of Seasons is a slight downgrade from her original outfit in Harvest Moon, with a more revealing neckline and a slightly less charming hair accessory.
Rock
Rock’s appearance remains largely the same in Story of Seasons, with a slightly older look and a slightly updated hairstyle.
Cecilia
Cecilia, or Celia, retains her classic farmgirl look in both Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons.
Overall, the character redesigns in Story of Seasons bring a mix of improvements and slight downgrades, but there’s still plenty of time to get to know the up-and-coming farmers before deciding who to marry in the farming game.
