The Witcher 3 Endings

The main quests of The Witcher 3 have reached their conclusion, with Eredin and the Wild Hunt vanquished and Ciri facing the White Frost alone. However, there are still a few side quests and pivotal moments that can influence the outcome of your journey.

The Witcher 3 Epilogue

The epilogue of The Witcher 3, titled "Something Ends, Something Begins," presents different endings based on Geralt's interactions with Ciri. Depending on how you have nurtured her spirits and the choices you have made throughout the game, you may experience one of four distinct outcomes. These endings range from a heartbreaking scenario where Ciri dies alone and Geralt is left to grieve, to more hopeful conclusions.

After defeating the final boss, you are transported to the epilogue. The nature of this final chapter is determined by the way you have guided Ciri's story. You will either reunite with her in a serene and picturesque field or encounter her atop a desolate hill overlooking the White Frost. Let's explore all the different endings and the conditions required to achieve them:

Ending 1: Emperor Emhyr Is Notified of Ciri's Death

In this ending, Geralt visits the Royal Palace in Vizima to inform Emperor Emhyr that Ciri has tragically passed away. Despite the tension surrounding this meeting, Geralt manages to leave with his life intact.

Geralt proceeds to White Orchard, where he comes across a group struggling with a wagon. They provide him with updates on the war, which are influenced by the choices made in the Reason of State quest. Afterward, Geralt journeys to the ruins, where a skilled blacksmith gifts him a masterfully crafted silver sword and offers to engrave an inscription of his choosing.

Geralt then heads to the White Orchard Inn, where he presents the sword to a mysterious hooded woman. To his astonishment, the woman reveals herself to be Ciri.

Ending 2: Geralt's Journey with Ciri

Upon the sorceress' urging, Geralt ventures into the snow. He makes his way to Mislav's hut, seeking information about a person who has already departed. Following the quest marker, Geralt finds Ciri perched on a ridge. She implores him to accompany her to a griffin nest, and together they embark on this adventure, engaging in heartfelt conversations along the way.

Arriving at the nest, Ciri becomes momentarily distracted and nearly falls prey to a forktail. Geralt springs into action, rescuing her from harm. Subsequently, he takes Ciri fishing, where they encounter a bear attempting to catch a fish through a hole in a frozen lake. After driving away the bear, Geralt demonstrates the witchers' fishing technique by tossing a bomb into the hole. They collect the fish and return to White Orchard, where Ciri reveals her decision to become the Empress of Nilfgaard.

The quest concludes with a heartfelt farewell between Geralt and Ciri. However, if Ciri's spirits were not adequately maintained, Geralt will instead confront a werewolf in Crookback Bog.

Geralt has the choice to engage in a deadly battle with the werewolf or show mercy and recruit it as an ally. He encounters hunters who have captured a wolf and must defeat them before continuing his quest. Arriving at the ruins, Geralt encounters a lady who presents him with a choice between a silver and steel sword. He also has the option to engrave an inscription on the sword or decline the gift altogether.

Geralt then makes his way to the White Orchard Inn, where he discovers Ciri sitting by the fireplace. The two venture outside to revel in the snow, where Ciri showcases her extraordinary powers. Suddenly, monsters launch an attack, and Geralt must fend them off. As he searches for Ciri's medallion, he laments the encroaching threat of the creatures.
