The Witcher 3’s Skellige Treasure Hunt: Ironsides’ Treasure

Want to know more about the Skellige Treasure Hunt? The Witcher 3’s Skellige Treasure Hunt: Ironsides’ Treasure quest sees Geralt embark on a journey of crime and punishment following valuable information obtained by Dandelion. Our guide discusses the starting and ending points of the quest, how to complete it, and the rewards you can earn.

The Skellige Treasure Hunt quest sees Geralt travel to an unmarked island southwest of the Grotto Fast Travel point. There, a shipwreck left by a man who attempted to steal a notorious pirate’s treasure while in bed with the criminal’s wife serves as the starting point for Geralt’s journey.

Skellige Treasure Hunt start and location

To begin the Skellige Treasure Hunt quest, head to the island’s shore and look for a skeleton lying by a crashed boat on the rocks. Examine the skeleton to find a letter detailing the location of the sunken treasure – it’s a little too deep for a normal person to reach, however.

Use your Witcher Senses to find a boat nearby at the Grotto. If you don’t have any other boats, you can Fast Travel to Grotto and reach the island using the boat.

Skellige Treasure Hunt walkthrough

After arriving on the island, a crashed boat on the rocks reveals a skeleton with a letter detailing the location of the sunken treasure. You can either find a boat at Grotto or use another boat to Fast Travel to Grotto and reach the island.

Follow the quest marker into the sea and navigate to the center of the search area to find the chest. Using Geralt’s Witcher Senses reveals the chest will be highlighted in red.

Before you reach the chest, you’ll have to contend with a group of sirens in the sea. It’s best to use your crossbow underwater, as they’re quite aggressive and will attack you once they spot you.

Once you’ve defeated the sirens, swim to the chest and open it to conclude the quest. You’ll receive Gynvael Aedd, a silver sword that enhances Igni Sign Intensity. The sword includes three rune slots.

Gynvael Aedd is a valuable weapon for Geralt, providing additional power and customization options. The quest also demonstrates the contrast between strategic thinking and brute force, showcasing the importance of intelligence in The Witcher 3.

This is just one of many side quests in the Open-world game that’s worth completing. The Witcher 3 has many great quests that enhance the overall narrative and your gameplay experience. If you’re looking for something new to play, be sure to check out our list of the best PC games.
