The Witcher 3 Keira Metz ending
Keira Metz is an early potential romance for Geralt in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Her storyline is told through multiple side quests, which include hunting beasts and stopping kidnappers. The questline ends with “For The Advancement Of Learning”.
Keira is a sorceress with an undeniable allure, a sharp mind, intense curiosity, and a magical ability that few can match. Throughout the game, you have control over Keira’s fate, and your words during conversations will directly affect the outcome.
Keira Metz's Tragic Ending
One of Keira's choices comes back to bite her later in the game. Depending on your choices, you discover that Radovid is developing the Catriona Plague and using sorcerers to help him perfect it.
When Keira finds out the truth, she aims to give Radovid what he wants by taking notes on the Catriona Plague and intending to give them to the cruel king. If you choose to stop her plan by force, it results in a fight to the death with Geralt burning the notes afterward. This ending is less satisfying for Geralt and Keira's fans, as their relationship is barely explored.
This early tragedy sets a precedent for how Keira experiences the Battle of Kaer Morhen. If you side with her and convince her not to give Radovid the notes, she fights alongside you against many foes, resulting in a much more difficult battle. Later, you can find Keira’s body in her lab following the battle, impaled by a table pole. This adds an extra boss battle, but from the very beginning, there’s no doubt about her fate this time.
The Happiest Keira Metz Ending
If you're looking for a happier outcome for Keira, your best chance is later on in her questline. After “An Invitation From Keira Metz”, each quest along the way provides the opportunity to end her storyline.
To achieve the happiest ending, you'll need to choose specific dialogue options. Start the quest titled “Faithful Friend” to be on the right track. Eventually, you'll want Keira to stay in Kaer Morhen with Lambert in “For The Advancement Of Learning”. However, her dialogue will suggest otherwise, making this outcome difficult to achieve. To convince her, you’ll first need to complete another separate quest, titled “Baptism of Fire”.
During “Baptism of Fire”, Keira decides to complete the Test of the First Flame, a ritual used to determine whether a mage is worthy enough to become a sorcerer. To convince her not to follow through with the plan, you need to give her an out. Rather than telling her to not risk her life, tell her either: “Very well, I understand” or “Okay. As you wish.”
