How to use the Mirror of Loss in Baldur's Gate 3

Wondering how to use the Baldur’s Gate 3 Mirror of Loss? The Mirror of Loss is a rare item found in the deepest part of the House of Grief in Baldur’s Gate. It allows you to permanently increase one of your stats, but there are a few conditions to note.

The Mirror of Loss is one of the ways to permanently increase your stats in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, there are limited options for this, including the Mirror of Loss. There are also a couple of ways to refresh your character’s stats, including the Baldur’s Gate 3 godstones and the Remove Curse spell.

How to get the Mirror of Loss

The Mirror of Loss can be found in the Chamber of Loss, the deepest part of the House of Grief in Baldur’s Gate. To get there, you need to complete Shadowheart’s questline to a certain extent. You also need the Remove Curse spell to remove negative stat loss.

Once you have these things, you can visit the Chamber of Loss and interact with the mirror. It asks you to offer a memory in exchange for a boon, but there are some conditions. First of all, you need to reach the area past the Chamber of Loss, where you can read the Necromancy of Thay to unlock the trading feature. If you do this and offer a fake memory, you get no stat points.

Reading the Necromancy of Thay allows you to trade knowledge from the book for two stat points. However, if you read the book after using the mirror and offer the stat boost, you don’t get any points. Deceiving the mirror with a fake is the only way to get the stat boost without gaining any points.

Each character in your party can activate the mirror and gain its benefits once. However, you can use the mirror again after removing the curse and keeping the stat boost. After the first use, subsequent uses will only result in a curse and no boon.

Clerics of Selune, like light-path Shadowheart, have Disadvantage when using the mirror. Stats can’t be increased above 24.

Here’s how to use the Mirror of Loss:

Firstly, you need to pass Religion and Arcana checks to identify and open the mirror. Each character must pass their own Religion check to pray to the mirror and receive the boon. Failing the prayer check permanently locks the character from the mirror’s benefits.

To offer memories in order of the six stats:

  • After offering a stat, a random memory is given, and you can choose which stat to bolster. There have been reports of a bug where the Mirror of Loss only gives a curse and no reward. A solution to this bug is to exit to the desktop and reload the game.

That’s everything you need to know about the Mirror of Loss in Baldur’s Gate 3. Refresh your character’s stats by using the Character Select and Examine functions. Once you’re done with the RPG game, check out some of the other best PC games out right now.
