Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals - Confrontation with Olivia in the Community Center

In the midst of your journey through Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, you'll come to a terrifying confrontation with Olivia in the Community Center. Your decisions can have a huge impact on the events of the game, and it's not just the content of your conversations. Your quick thinking and puzzle-solving skills will be tested – but if you're well-prepared, you'll survive the Community Center and get the best possible outcome for Riley and Jacob.

The impact of your choices can be seen midway through the game. It's possible to reach the Community Center without making the right decisions, but the scene won't play out correctly. The kids will arrive and talk as they normally would, and you won't be able to eavesdrop on them from the vents. The only way to understand Olivia's intentions is to go through the scene again, making the right choices along the way.

How to reach the Community Center in Oxenfree 2

The Community Center is located on the right side of town, across the bridge below the flag. You can't enter the Community Center before you're prompted, and you can't enter or leave it after the pivotal scene.

You'll reach the Community Center after traveling to Garland to plant the final transmitter. Follow the objective markers back to Glimmer Creek, taking the same path you traveled earlier when you visited the church and the graveyard.

How to survive the confrontation in the Community Center

To have the best outcome for Riley and Jacob, you need to interact carefully with Charlie and Violet before reaching the Community Center. The three kids are planning to use the radio equipment in the Community Center to disrupt Riley and Jacob's attempts to close the Gate.

Before you go any further, take a moment to gather the following:

  • You'll need to reach the Community Center before the kids, so you can't waste time traveling to the lighthouse to find Violet. In fact, you can't even enter the lighthouse until you reach the Community Center.
  • The Community Center consists of three large floors. The first floor has the entrance, a reception area, and a kitchen. The second floor has the kitchen, an office, and a storage room. The attic is a small room at the very top of the building.

For the best outcome, you need to reach the Community Center before the kids and destroy the broadcast equipment. This will keep the kids from opening a Gate in the middle of town and potentially causing another Chernobyl-style meltdown.

The Community Center has several staircases and a fire escape for quick travel between floors. The radio equipment that Olivia needs is located in the basement, hidden behind the altar in the first-floor storage room.

The door to the basement is held shut by a radio lock. You can see the frequency, 75.6, on the front of the lock. You can find the number by inspecting the poster under the set of stairs near the main entrance.

On the way to the attic, you'll pass through the storage room. Inside, you'll find the upgraded radio, which allows you to tune into frequencies as low as 50.0 and as high as 150.0.

After you obtain the upgraded radio, tune your new radio to 75.6 and keep it tuned until the lock opens. You'll be able to see the lock's progress bar in the corner of the screen. As soon as the lock opens, destroy the equipment in the basement. Then, climb back up to the storage room.

Olivia and her friends will arrive, and you can eavesdrop on their conversation. Olivia will attempt to tune her radio to open a Gate in the middle of town. Quickly follow Olivia to the attic and take the radio away from her as soon as she starts tuning.

If you start walking upstairs during the conversation, you'll have a head start on Olivia. Chase Olivia through the building, using the fire escape to surprise her from the rear door.

Olivia is fast and agile, but she's not a skilled fighter. You can use your fists to knock her out, but she'll wake up quickly and run away if you don't have a weapon to keep her at bay. Instead, aim for her legs with a heavy object like the radio or a chair.
