An Amnesia: The Bunker Mod Takes You to the Doom Universe

The first fan-made story for the game Amnesia: The Bunker is a Doom mod. Set during the First World War, Amnesia: The Bunker tells the tale of a man plagued by visions of his past that drive him to a remote Austrian bunker. The game’s themes of psychological Horror are expertly combined with its gameplay, immersing you in the horrors of war. But what if you could shake things up a little?

Someone has done just that by creating a Doom mod for the Frictional Games masterpiece. Called Doom (E1M1), it places Amnesia’s protagonist Henri Clément in the boots of the original Doom Guy. As you’d expect, Clément is more inclined to run away from his enemies than face them head-on, and he runs like a little girl. He’s also not as skilled, throwing rocks and using flashlights to distract his foes.

Despite these disadvantages, Clément is still equipped with a revolver and shotgun to take on the derezzed versions of the Beast from the original game. The mod also features an end-of-level stats screen that tracks various quirky figures like “Corpses Corralled” and “Rats Recruited.”

Installing the mod is pretty straightforward if you’re using Steam, as you simply have to subscribe to it on the Steam Workshop. If you’re not using Steam, you’ll need to download the mod from ModDB and extract it to the game’s directory, then place the contents in the game’s Mods folder.

If you’re interested in playing this unique fan-made mod, you can subscribe to it on Steam. We’d recommend giving it a try, as it’s an exciting opportunity to explore a new storyline within the Amnesia universe.

The mod’s description on the Steam Workshop provides a brief overview of the experience you can expect:

This Amnesia mod certainly adds a whole new twist to the psychological horror game, and it’s a welcome testament to the ongoing popularity of Doom and the enduring appeal of modding.
