The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Dialogue
The dialogue in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom surpasses that of Breath of the Wild, thanks to an abundance of NPC quotes that breathe life into the world. The characters in Tears of the Kingdom are inherently more interesting, with more extensive dialogue that brings their personality and depth to the forefront. While few interactions can match the memorable quotes of Majora's Mask, Tears of the Kingdom heeds the call for more dialogue and brings more personality to the residents of the kingdom of Hyrule.
Since The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom does not allow the player to speak as Link, the other characters carry the onus of delivering the legendary lines. Fortunately, beloved character Purah has several memorable quotes, while Hudson's Construction Company boasts a catchy slogan: "Son and done," reflecting the efficiency of their work before the Upheaval. Tears of the Kingdom is filled with assorted, fun characters that add more layers to the story. Below, we highlight some of the most quotable characters in the game.
Best The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Quotations
"All along, we assumed someone else would purify the Shrines, but if we could do it in the past..."
The quote at the end of each shrine is beautiful. The purification process showcases how well the person accepts their fate and moves on to protect their family, their masters, or their village. The statues of Sonia and Rauru in the shrines provide a comforting sight, confirming that you are on the right path. I would highly recommend visiting the shrines solely to experience these meaningful quotes.
"Even when the world cries out in anguish, it endures."
The Blood Moon quote in Tears of the Kingdom is particularly fitting, given the ominous warning it offers. This quote enhances the sense of foreboding as you embark on certain side quests tied to Calamity Ganon's return, vividly illustrating the menacing corruption spreading across the world.
"Flaming torchbugs... Putrid zora... Messy mushrooms... Crabs... Yes, crabs!"
So, you've developed a near-obsessive infatuation with crabs, have you?
"Sincerely... grateful... Sincerely appreciate... Help... anyone... Please..."
The Mining Construct knows it shouldn't express emotion, but it can't help but convey its despair over receiving no response to its pleas for help. All it wants is to be buried in the ground so it can continue maintaining the Wall, the only thing preventing the Calamity from merging its darkness into the kingdom.
"I can't believe they could be so reckless! Who do they think they are?! Do they realize they're destroying the very nature they claim to protect?"
Beedle goes on a long rant at the Divine Beast Forklift about protecting nature as Ganon burns and deforests the kingdom. In a series known for making enemies out of whatever flora and fauna it finds, Beedle deserves respect for his concern for the environment.
"Oh, Child! Pretend we did not speak of anything unpleasant. And do not fret. We are patient people, Child. As you know, patience is a virtue. You'll have all your answers in time."
Ganon undeniably makes his destructive mark with the destruction of the Master Sword and his subsequent words, but Sonia reminds the players that they are a patient people. Most players will sit down to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and go through the story in due time. However, the weight of Ganondorf's words will linger as they replay the game.
"I won't die until every last monster has been destroyed. Even if my body is destroyed, my soul will survive eternally... I will fight for eternity."
Mineralu acknowledges her immortality but is aware that countless centuries can take a toll if she is not careful. Her concern for immortality is warranted, as it is akin to chasing an impossible goal - something she knows all too well after numerous failed attempts.
"We will sacrifice even our lives if it means saving this kingdom from evil. Even if I am crushed and defeated, the kingdom will be safe."
King Rauru was always a strong character in the Ocarina of Time saga.
