Little Nightmares 3: A Mix of Anticipation and Caution
Little Nightmares 3 has been announced, and the news has left some Horror fans buzzing with anticipation, while others are more cautious, and a few are downright angry. The reveal trailer for Little Nightmares 3 is full of that quirky Little Nightmares charm, with a familiar ‘80s vibe. But the news that Supermassive Games is in charge has left some fans worried, while others are concerned that the series should have ended with the second game and that leaving it open-ended adds to its appeal.
The change in studios is, of course, a pretty major red flag. Little Nightmares 2 was developed by Tarsier Studios, who are now working on Hades II. The first Little Nightmares was developed by Sumo Digital, who have moved on to work on other projects. So, in comes Supermassive Games, known for cinematic horror experiences like Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology.
“Supermassive knows what makes Little Nightmares good,” one user says, with another adding, “I trust Supermassive with this, they know how to tell a story.” Some are less confident, with one writing, “I’m not feeling this. I think it’s the cinematic studio that’s making me wary.” Others are simply excited for a new game from Supermassive, saying, “I love Supermassive and was excited for Until Dawn but I don’t think they’re the right studio for this game.”
Others are also excited for Hades II, mistakenly thinking that Supergiant Games is behind the Little Nightmares 3 announcement. “This is gonna be a great year for horror,” someone else replies. “Not only is Little Nightmares 3 coming out, but we also got Hades II,” another says. “I’m excited for Hades II,” one replies. “It looks amazing,” another says. “Little Nightmares 3, though? I’m not really into it,” one replies.
There are some concerns about Hades II, with some expressing worry about the potential multiplayer aspect of Little Nightmares 3 and its impact on the atmospheric nature of the game.
