Magic: The Gathering: Wilds of Eldraine

The latest Magic: The Gathering set, Wilds of Eldraine, is all about taking the fantasy elements of the trading card game and cranking them up to 11. Sure, we’ve seen plenty of legendary creatures in the past, but Eldraine seems to have them in spades. The set also goes deep on enchantment cards, with new and returning favorites such as Parallel Lives.

Eldraine introduces a new enchantment called Extraordinary Journey that exiles your opponent’s creatures and grants you card advantage in return. It’s a powerful card that seems to fit well with the more controlling decks that want to keep their opponent’s board clear. It’s joined by Parallel Lives, which doubles the number of tokens you receive from the spell.

If you’re looking for a more aggressive approach, you’ll be happy to hear that Wilds of Eldraine also features plenty of token-makers. It’s also bringing back some old favorites, such as Experiment One and Lone Rider. The Goose Mother, meanwhile, is a feathery hydra with seven heads, which is sure to make for an interesting play experience – especially if you’re playing against someone with a Hydra tribal deck.

Wilds of Eldraine releases on Arena on September 5, with the paper release happening on September 8. You can get your hands on the new cards by attending pre-release events at your local WPN stores from September 1 to September 7.
