Discover the different types of wood in Minecraft
Want to know all about the different types of wood in Minecraft? Wood Planks are essential to your survival. They are one of the three main building materials, alongside stone and dirt, and are essential for crafting tools, shelters, and more. So, you’ll be glad to know there are many different types of Wood Planks in the game.
Different biomes and their trees
Different biomes exist throughout the sandbox game for a reason, and the trees that grow there are no different. Different types of Wood Planks exist naturally, each with its own unique characteristics. For example, Oak Wood Planks are the most abundant, but you won’t find them in every biome. On the other hand, you can find Birch Wood Planks in Forest biomes because they grow on Birch trees – which themselves are rarer than Oak trees. We’ll go into more detail about these trees below, along with all the other wood types you can discover and use in your Minecraft building projects.
All wood types
Here is the full list of all wood types in Minecraft:
As you can see, there are many different types of Wood Planks to discover and they all have their own uses. Finding specific biomes may require a bit of exploration (which we’ll cover in more detail below), but you can also create tree farms if you’re after a steady supply. Some trees will also yield additional resources like Apples or Saplings, which you can use to grow more trees.
Acacia wood
Acacia Wood Planks were added in the Minecraft 1.20 patch and are an alternative to Oak. They have a unique reddish color and can be found in Savanna biomes.
Cherry Blossom trees
Cherry Blossom trees were added in the 1.14 update and are a bright pink – quite unique when compared to all of the other wood types in the game. Of course, the trees themselves don’t actually exist yet, but the Cherry Blossom texture pack is here to fulfill your pink Minecraft dreams.
