The Warden of the Deep Dark
Want to know how to deal with the Warden in Minecraft? The Deep Dark biome in Minecraft 1.19 brought with it a terrifying new hostile mob. The Warden is powerful, tanky, and relentless, and it’s capable of inflicting constant darkness on players.
The Warden is a fearsome foe – if you see one coming, you’re advised to run. However, if it’s already attacking, there are ways to fend off the blind, aggressive monster. The Warden is just one of many new features and changes introduced in the Minecraft 1.19 update. If you’re looking for a general overview of the Minecraft 1.19 update, we’ve got you covered.
Minecraft Warden
The Warden is a new hostile mob that spawns in the Deep Dark. It’s highly powerful and tanky, with a massive amount of health – it’ll take a lot of damage before going down. The Warden also deals high damage with its melee attack, so you’ll have to avoid being close to it at all costs. But perhaps the most terrifying thing about the Warden is its ability to detect you from incredible distances and pursue you relentlessly.
The Warden is blind but has exceptional hearing and smell senses, compensating for its lack of vision and enabling it to detect vibrations and pathfind towards them, including player actions and scents. It’s also capable of inflicting perpetual darkness on players with its scream.
Minecraft Warden anger meter
The Warden has an anger meter that increases with vibrations. When the anger meter fills, the Warden will become enraged, following a specific target relentlessly and ignoring vibrations.
In the calm state, the Warden wanders randomly, inflicting constant darkness on nearby players. Vibrations increase the Warden’s anger meter, with certain actions adding more anger. For example, hitting a block or placing a torch adds more anger than simply walking or placing a block.
Minecraft Warden fight strategy
If you do end up fighting the Warden, you’ll want to keep your distance. Sneaking to avoid its smell and hearing senses is crucial, as is blocking any incoming attacks. You can also pillar up if you need temporary safety, but keep in mind that the Warden’s sonic boom attack can knock you off.
Your goal should be to avoid its attacks and wait for it to return underground after 60 seconds of calm. You can also try to lure it into a trap such as a lava pool or cactus patch.
In terms of firepower, the Warden is incredibly strong, but its health pool is massive – the only damage you can inflict is via a critical hit. Your best bet is to avoid taking it on unless absolutely necessary.
The Warden also despawns if left in a calm state for 60 seconds. So if your plan is to lure it into a lava pool, make sure you’re not standing in it yourself.
While the Warden is a fearsome foe, taking on any hostile mob in Minecraft is a challenge. The Warden is especially difficult, so we hope that by reading this guide, you’re better prepared to take on the darkness.
